The primary factors that shape the health of Canadians are not medical treatments or lifestyle choices, but rather the living conditions they experience. These conditions have come to be known as the social determinants of health.Working with medical institutions puts us in a better position to find innovative solutions to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable. We do this by funding research studies to address health issues that disproportionately affect people of African descent such as Sickle Cell, Diabetes, Cervical Cancer, and HIV AIDS.
